Literature Text

Carefree, carefree I wish to be,
I long to be with her.
She'll teach my heart just how to see,
I'll be her perfect sir.
I'll learn of love in her embrace,
And then succumb to her sweet grace,
I'll learn of love,
I'll learn of love,
I'll see the love upon her face,
Oh, carefree, carefree, carefree.

Carefree, carefree, I do foresee
A lifetime at her side.
And in my heart, so much new glee,
I feel I must have died.
I'll fight no more for I am caught,
See me now, a Gordian knot,
I'll fight no more,
I'll fight no more,
What more have I to give to thought?
Oh, carefree, carefree, carefree.

To be carefree, it is my dream,
And fight this war no more.
I see her face, her eyes do gleam
As if a song of yore.
I'll take my shield; 'tis her I love,
Now I know who I dream of,
I'll take my shield,
I'll take my shield,
And with my might, I'll guard my dove,
Oh, to be, to be, carefree.
This is a serious revision to my earlier poem "Carefree". [link]
I came across a poem form called the Trijan Refrain that I thought was beautiful and creative. However, I couldn't figure out a way to use it for "Carefree" and have it make sense. What I submitted is a variation of the Trijan Refrain. To see the actual form, click on this link: [link]
